Uncommonly enough, sweets shop in the daytime, members only bar lounge at night. Warabi-mochi(bracken mochi) made from brown sugar of Okinawa and it's very nice.

祇園白川のすぐそばに、夜は会員制のラウンジ、昼間は甘味処をしている変わった店があります。お店のお母さんは、実は私のご近所さんで、ものすごく面白い方です。場所柄でしょうか、大物芸人の方も何人か贔屓にしているみたいです。わらび餅は繊細な味で、しかも祇園価格ではなく、普通の値段設定です。

Quiet and relaxing space near Kyoto Imperial Palace(御所). I had a pear cake.

There is a hiding-place at the top of a building in the central place of Kyoto. The terrace commands a beautiful sky.

三条と四条の間というロケーションにあって、しかも京都でこれだけオープンなスペースを確保している店は珍しいです。仕事で来たのでコーヒーだけ頂きましたが、次回はたい焼きかチョコレートにチャレンジしたいです。

After refurbishment, ORENOPAN reopens today.This shop is a boulangerie produced by a popular French restaurant in Kyoto. Like Yasaka-jinja Shrine(八坂神社) or Kyoto Minamiza theater(京都南座), famed tourist spots are near the shop. Taking a walk to them with some breads will be fine.

しばらく改装していたオレノパンが今日から営業再開していました。フレンチの祇園おくむらが手がけるパン屋です。ほろ苦い宇治抹茶を生地に練りこんだメロンパンと、サイズも価格もカワイイ、マロンクリーム入りのパンを購入しました。ピクニックがてら、八坂さんなんかに持っていくのも良さそうです。

Thief!?

When sweets were valuable, its deliciousness might cause you want to have it even if you stole it, so it was named Dorobo(it means a theif in Japanese). The shop locates just across Nijo Castle.

二条城の向かいにある、昔ながらのお菓子屋さん。和菓子とはまた違った、こだわりの駄菓子が購入できます。看板商品の"どろぼう"というネーミングは、甘いものが貴重だったその昔に、盗んででも食べたいほど美味しいと言われたことが由来になっています。

30th Anniversary!!

variety of ceremonies and festivals were held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of MALEBRANCHE, one of the most famous sweets shops in Kyoto.

今日はマールブランシュの30周年でした。京都市動物園とコラボした本日限定のアニマルマールハウスを購入しました。店員さんは、職業体験中の可愛いちびっ子たち。みんな頑張っていました。

Received an invitation, I went to 8CRAVATES. It is an art exhibition produced by HERMES. I bought 4 kinds of cheese cakes on the way.

案内状を頂いたので、エルメスとミゲル・シュヴァリエがコラボレートしたデジタルアートを観に行きました。帰りにFORMAのチーズケーキを購入。京都では買えないので、ついつい欲張って４種類入りを購入してしまいました。

Fruit DAIHUKU

Soft rice cake stuffed with sweet strained white bean paste and fruit of the season. I selected persimmon one.

イチゴだけではなく、季節のフルーツを使った大福が新鮮。柿・梨・ブドウなど、フレッシュなフルーツを使った大福は、選ぶところから楽しみが始まります。

grandma's home cooking

In the depth of Gion, proceeding further along Kenninji, a specialty shop of Ohagi can be found.
Ohagi is a kind of rice-dimplings. The owner was so familiar, I fell at ease in this shop.

昔ながらの店にも見えますが、オープンしたのは割と最近です。もともと店を出すつもりはなかったのですが、色々なご縁が重なって、祇園の一角でおはぎ屋さんを始められました。フレンドリーな接客で楽しませて頂きました。
